From the very beginning, the vision for a Chapel at the heart of Saint Kentigern was clear. A place to gather, reflect, and strengthen our shared values and Christian faith.

The Chapel doors opened in 1972, a significant milestone and the fulfilment of this long-held dream, made possible through the bequest of Miss Elaine Goodfellow, contributions from parents, and the dedication of many.

The addition of a magnificent stained-glass window featuring the Celtic Cross in 1979 further enriched its presence, reminding all who enter of the traditions and values that continue to shape our community.

The very foundations of the Chapel connect us to a heritage greater than our own. As you approach, the stone beneath the left-hand lamp comes from Iona, Scotland, part of the historic Abbey that shaped the course of Christianity in Scotland. Beneath the right-hand lamp lies a stone from Westminster Abbey, London, gifted as a mark of connection to a lineage of faith spanning centuries. Next to the entrance, the bell from St Columba’s Church in Dundee, once rung for over a hundred years, now calls our own community to moments of unity, reflection, and worship.

Today, the Chapel remains a place of deep significance where generations have gathered for joy, remembrance, and celebration. It stands as a reminder of who we are, what we value, and the lasting legacy of Fides Servanda Est – The Faith Must Be Kept.
