Year 6 Boys Conquer Heights at Kauaeranga Valley Camp

12 March 2025

The air was buzzing with excitement as the boys gathered to leave for their annual camp, the energy and anticipation tangible. With bags packed and spirits high, they boarded the bus, eager for the adventures that lay ahead. The moment they arrived at Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp in Thames, they hit the ground running. Literally. The carefully planned activities promised thrills, challenges, and unforgettable memories.

Go-karting, axe throwing, rafting, kayaking, slingshot paintball, and a giant flying fox were on the cards for the week, each providing their own set of skills and challenges. From the adrenaline junky to the strategic thinker, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The true test of endurance came with the legendary hike up the Pinnacles. Step by step, they encouraged each other up the track that demanded perseverance, grit, and determination from everyone. Reaching the summit was a proud moment; nature rewarding the group with breathtaking panoramic views stretching out to the sea. Sitting together for lunch atop the mountains was a well-earned reprieve and a chance to take in the stunning surroundings.

The day’s adventures didn’t end there. That evening, the group settled into the Summer Village, embracing the outdoor experience as they dined al fresco under the night sky. The campfire beckoned everyone around it as they toasted marshmallows and shared stories, celebrating a day well spent.

As camp neared its end, the excitement remained at an all-time high. One of the standout moments of the final day had to be the fiercely contested F1 Go-Kart Parents Race. Adam Worthington had the run of the day, claiming victory in a thrilling battle for first place. The boys then put their energy toward an epic house sports showdown.

To wrap up what might have been the best day of the year, the boys enjoyed a well-deserved movie night – a perfect way to wind down after four days of adventure, achievement, and non-stop fun.

A huge thank you to the Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp staff, whose warmth and enthusiasm made this trip an absolute success. The memories made, the friendships strengthened, and the challenges overcome will stay with the boys for a lifetime.
