Record-Breaking NZQA Scholarship Success

14 February 2025

We are delighted to announce our students’ extraordinary achievements in the 2024 NZQA Scholarship examinations, which recognises the outstanding academic accomplishments by secondary students nationwide.

This year, Saint Kentigern students earned a record-breaking 87 Scholarships, including 15 at the Outstanding level, setting a new milestone for the College. These results reflect our students' perseverance and commitment to academic excellence.

Among the highlights of this year’s success is Daniel Xian, who receives a Premier Award, recognising him as one of the top 12 students in New Zealand. Daniel’s exceptional performance includes Outstanding Scholarships in Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics, as well as Scholarships in Economics and English.

We also celebrate Nicholas (Nico) McKinlay, named the 2024 Top Subject Scholar for Calculus, and Alan YiNing Chen, named the 2024 Top Subject Scholar for Latin. Both Nicholas and Alan will receive the Outstanding Scholar Award, placing them among only 55 recipients in New Zealand. We are also pleased to share that Nico has once again scored top marks in Calculus, earning the Top Subject Scholarship Award for the third consecutive year—a truly exceptional accomplishment.

We congratulate all our Scholarship recipients on this outstanding achievement.

The College’s annual Academic Honours and Colours ceremony will formally acknowledge all 2024 NZQA Scholarship winners in March.
