Exceptional Academic Success in 2024: A Testament to Excellence
In 2024, our students have once again demonstrated exceptional academic performance, with outstanding results in both NCEA and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, far surpassing national and high-decile school benchmarks. These impressive results reflect the dedication of our students, the expertise of our teachers, and the strong support of our school community, all of which combine to create an environment where excellence thrives.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Success
Our 2024 IB cohort have achieved outstanding results, with a pass rate of 95.5%, significantly surpassing the world average of 72.4%. The Average Points Score for our students is 35, well above the global average of 29. Furthermore, 48.5% of our students achieved 36 or more points, an increase from 36.4% in 2023. An impressive 25.6% of our students scored over 40 points, underscoring the sustained high performance and exceptional academic rigour of our IB cohort. These results also highlight our commitment to providing a world-class education that prepares students for academic success while equipping them for global opportunities.
Outstanding Achievement Across All NCEA Levels
The academic achievements of our students this year are truly remarkable, with impressive NCEA results across all year levels.
Level 3 Results
Our Year 13 students achieved exceptional results, with an overall qualification rate of 96.7%, significantly surpassing the 80.4% at other high-decile schools. Additionally, 22.1% of our students received an Excellence Endorsement, surpassing the 15.7% at other high-decile schools, while 47.1% earned a Merit Endorsement, outpacing a similar 31.1% benchmark. An impressive 69.2% of our Year 13 students achieved either Merit or Excellence endorsements, positioning them for future success in their academic and professional careers.
The University Entrance rate of 92.3% far exceeds the 65.1% average at other high-decile schools, showcasing students’ preparedness for tertiary education.
Level 2 Results
Our Year 12 students have achieved some of the best Level 2 results in recent history, with an overall qualification rate of 99.0%, significantly higher than the 84.7% at other high-decile schools. In addition, 31.3% of students earned an Excellence Endorsement, well above the 19.2% seen at other high-decile schools, and 45.3% received a Merit Endorsement, outperforming the 32.2% at other high-decile schools. An impressive 76.6% of Year 12 students achieved either Merit or Excellence.
Level 1 Results
Our Year 11 students have demonstrated phenomenal success in the newly aligned Ministry of Education framework, achieving an overall pass rate of 97.7%, far surpassing the 43.6% achieved at other high-decile schools. A strong 26.6% earned an Excellence Endorsement, compared to 16.9% at other high-decile schools, while 46.9% received a Merit Endorsement, outperforming the 38.3% recorded at other high-decile schools. With 73.5% of students earning either Merit or Excellence, these results highlight the strength and effectiveness of our teaching and learning programmes, particularly in light of recent changes to Level 1 qualifications.
Additionally, 100% of our students met the mandatory Literacy standard, well above the national average of 62.0%, and 99.5% met the mandatory Numeracy standard, significantly surpassing the 55.4% average at other high-decile schools.
