Boys' School Alumni Golf Day Hits the Fairways

20 February 2025

Windross Farm Golf Club once again played host to the annual Boys’ School Alumni Golf Day, where eighteen teams took to the fairways for a day of spirited competition and reunion. The event, a highlight of the alumni calendar, saw former students, current staff, and friends of the school test their skills across eighteen holes, all while enjoying the fellowship that makes this tournament a staple of the Saint Kentigern Boys’ School community.

This year’s tournament saw the stakes heat up with the introduction of a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on the 17th hole. Despite his hole-in-one heroics at last year’s event, Steve Langerak couldn’t quite replicate the magic this time. While the prize went unclaimed, the challenge inspired some ambitious swings and a few close calls.

In a tightly contested field, Team Maryann Hope took top honours, securing the coveted Mungo Cap, with Team Alex Smith and Team Steve Langerak finishing in second and third place, respectively.

The Ron Stone Memorial Trophy, awarded to an Almuni who embodies the true spirit of sportsmanship, was presented to David Winstone (Old Boy #126), while the infamous Bloopers Jacket, reserved for the day’s most memorable mishap, was handed to Thane Williams of Cyclone Computing.

A new tradition was also established, with a full teachers’ team entering the tournament for the first time – a move that promises to be a regular feature in years to come.

Among the recognisable faces on the course were Principal Peter Cassie and Alumni Association President Thomas Steel, both of whom enjoyed the day’s competitive yet collegial atmosphere.

A sincere thank you to our generous sponsors, whose support made the event possible:
