Boys' Middle School Athletics

After rain cancelled Middle School athletics two days earlier, we couldn’t have hoped for a better day when the competition finally took place. In a blaze of early summer sunshine, the boys in Years 5 and 6 set about some personal bests on the track and field. The Year 4 events, that should have taken place as part of the Middle School event, have been yet again postponed as they were taking a pre-planned trip to Tiritiri Matangi Island. Their competition will take place on the same day as the juniors.

800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, high jump, long jump, shotput, softball throw and discus….there was something taking place in every corner of the field at Pakuranga Athletics Club at Lloyd Elsmore! And in every corner of the field, the boys were giving it their all, before retreating to the shade on the bank between events.

With the points tallied, Harold MacCulloch was named Year 5 champion with Joe McLeod taking the honours for Year 6. Well done!
