Project Update 20
The construction of the new Year 12 and 13 Building is progressing as planned, with significant preparatory work completed over the summer holidays. This included the relocation and refurbishment of key learning spaces, offices, and essential facilities, such as the library and Year 13 Common Room, as well as the demolition of the Goodfellow Centre and Wingate buildings. The W7 and W8 classrooms have since been relocated to the front of the JPC and renamed JP30 and JP31, while the Performing Arts and Sports offices have been refitted, and the Trust Services Finance team has moved to the Manse, next to the Sports Centre. With all relocated spaces in use from the start of Term 1, 2025, we’re delighted to see students and staff settling seamlessly into school life, making the most of their new environments to support teaching and learning, and daily campus activities.
Student Spaces in Use
Interim Library and Study Space
The interim library, now housed next to Saints Café in the former Year 13 Common Room, provides a bright and welcoming environment for study and exploration. This space offers a variety of study layouts, including areas for individual focus and group collaboration. It also features a Quiet Study Room and a supervised pre- and post-school study area, giving students a dedicated place to read, engage with learning materials or work on assignments.
The library opens into the Saints Quad, serving as a natural extension of the space for social interaction, collaboration, and flexible use between study sessions.
Year 13 Common Room
The Year 13 Common Room has been welcoming students in its new self-contained annex within the EMC since the start of the year. Designed to support both study and social needs, the space offers a comfortable and dedicated environment for our senior students. With its own separate entrance and exit, it remains exclusively for Year 13 and will continue to serve them until the new Year 12 and 13 Building is completed in 2027. It’s been great to see our most senior students making full use of the space, settling in, and enjoying a place of their own.
Student Futures
The new Student Futures office is now located on Level 1 of the MacFarlan Building, providing a dedicated space for students to seek guidance on career pathways, tertiary options, and personal development opportunities. This central location ensures easy access for senior students, allowing them to connect with advisors, explore resources, and engage in future planning in a supportive environment. Watch this space in use.
Manor Park Carpark
The Manor Park Carpark officially opened on 10 February as a dedicated parking area for our Year 13 students. With 150 parking spaces, this new facility offers a practical and secure parking solution, featuring controlled access, well-defined walkways, and improved lighting to support student safety and accessibility. Its proximity to the No. 1 Field also makes it a convenient option on weekends for sporting events, providing extra parking for families and spectators.
Year 12 and 13 Building Construction Update
With the demolition of the Goodfellow Centre and Wingate buildings now complete, the site is moving through the next phase of construction, earthworks. The new construction access road, running parallel to Pakuranga Road, has also been completed and is effectively keeping construction traffic separate from main campus activities.
As work progresses, safety and accessibility remain a priority, ensuring a secure environment for students and staff throughout the development.
