Wishart Wins Boys' School Cross Country

After howling gales disrupted last year’s Boys’ School cross country, we couldn’t have wished for better weather for the first of the events – the Junior School races. With major construction of the new Specialist Facilities and Senior Boys’ Classrooms putting part of the top field temporarily out of action, the Junior School headed down the road to the Martyn Wilson Field, where the boys usually play football.  The boys were raring to go and each Year group set off at a cracking pace! By the end of the racing, it was agreed that this was an excellent venue! 

The following morning, the Middle School boys took to the track at the College with a route that included hills to challenge even the best of the runners. Again in beautiful sunshine, the boys in Years 4-6 can be proud of their efforts.

By the time Year 7 and 8 headed to the College for the final event, there was a definite drop in the temperature as a brief squall passed through, but not enough to deter the runners. There was some truly competitive running in this age group, with the final sprint between Sam Jancys and James Hiddleston in the Year 8 race showing sheer determination on the part of both boys, with Sam just edging to the lead. 

With all points tallied across the three days, it was Wishart who won the House Cup. Well done to all the participants and a big thank you to the parents who came out in support over the three days of racing.
