Two-hundred Plus Awarded Academic Colours and Honours

Academic success is the result of many small choices over a year to be disciplined, engaged, and applied. We believe it is imperative to recognise academic achievement at the highest level, and so have developed a system based on a grade-point average (GPA) percentage across all subjects. This measurement has three different calculations – Year 11 and Year 12 NCEA results and Year 12 IB results. 

For our IB students, Academic Colours are awarded to those who receive 38 or more points out of a possible 45. Academic Honours is given to students who maintained between 36-37 points for the year. 

In NCEA examinations, to qualify and receive an Academic Colour, students must achieve a GPA for the year of 90% and above.  To qualify and receive an Academic Honour, they must achieve 85-89.9%.  Accordingly, this year we congratulated over two-hundred students who received the necessary results to garner recognition. We also congratulate the thirty-three students who have been awarded NZQA Scholarships.

Each year, we also acknowledge our top student in each year group. The first is top in IB, Nico McKinlay, who is predicted to receive a perfect 7s in all of his subjects. As well as, he was also awarded an impressive four NZQA Scholarships in calculus, chemistry, physics, and statistics.

Our Top in Year 13 (based on their Year 12 results) was Katelyn Quay-Chin. As well as being awarded an NZQA scholarship in Health and Physical Education, Katelyn’ overall GPA was 100%.

Our Top in Year 12 (based on their Year 11 results) was Daniel Xian, who on top of an impressive GPA, also received NZQA Scholarships in Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics.

Congratulations to our high achieving academic students. We take great pride in our teaching staff and delivery of high-quality curriculum content, thus, to see these results from our students is the icing on the cake.
