Shoe Shine for Fiji at the Girls' School

Fundraising for the Boys’ and Girls’ School service trip to Fiji continued at the Girls’ School this week. After the successful shoe shine venture at the Boys’ School a couple of weeks ago, the girls – and Dr Hastie - lined up this week for the chance to let someone else make their school shoes clean and shiny!
Funds raised will go towards our efforts to support Nawaka Primary School and helping to complete a medical dispensary for their village. Nawaka village is located in a flood path and the school and village suffered considerable loss and damage in the most recent flooding.
The Fiji Service team of students, staff and parents from the two schools will leave next week to spend six days working in Nawaka. The following week, a team from the College will be at another village near Nadi to build storm shelters. Whilst the College has made this trip for a number of years, this is the first time that the schools have gone offshore to offer service and all involved are looking forward to the experience. We’ll look forward to hearing all about it on their return!
