Boys’ School students, Jack Sandelin and Akash Mudalair have had a great preparation for their upcoming school trip to New Caledonia. Jack placed first and Akash was third in the Year 7 category at the Eastern Zone French Speaking Competition yesterday. The pair are part of the Performers’ Choir going on the cultural tour to French colony, New Caledonia later this month. Fellow Boys’ School student, Brodie McInnes was third in the Year 8 category.
From the College, Olivia Overfield won the Year 9 section with Fayth Doherty in third place. Samantha Fey was third in the Year 10 section.
The Year 7-8 students had to speak in French about something or someone they liked, while the Year 9-10 topic was ‘Teenage World.’ They were adjudicated by the French National Adviser who assessed their presentation, delivery, language skills and audience appeal. A total of 35 students from seven schools were competing, with organiser, College Head of French Pascale McMillan saying the standard was ‘fantastique!’
