With a diverse circuit of events to compete in, the Boys’ School Year 0-3 athletics day provided an opportunity for the students to find and display their individual sporting strengths. There were sprint races for speedsters, long jump for the leapers, and shot put and discus for those with power and technique. The sack races and ball and spoon challenge added some entertainment between the more traditional track and field disciplines. Each station was efficiently run by Senior School student leaders and large throngs of parents followed the class groups around the activities. The sprint races of 50-metres for Year 0 and 1, 75m for Year 2 and 100m for Year 3 were run in heats with the eight fastest times qualifying for the finals. After each class had completed the event circuit, the entire Junior School gathered to cheer on their House competitors and classmates in the sprint finals. With the sun beating down, records tumbled as new marks were set in the Year 2 and Year 3 races. The place-getters were greeted on the podium by the Principal, Mr Peter Cassie, and cheered by the gathered supporters. Congratulations to all those who competed and to the following medallists from the sprint event!
