The Girls’ School/College combined netball teams had a superb day participating in the Queen Margaret/Diocesan Netball exchange held at Diocesan School for Girls yesterday. The Queen Margaret College Year 7 and 8 netball players came up from Wellington to take part in their annual exchange against Diocesan, with Saint Kentigern joining in for the first time.
Beautiful weather allowed for the teams to play on the outdoor netball courts with all games running concurrently. The combined Girls’ School/College Year 7A and 8A Mystics teams had a very successful day achieving wins in all their games. Each team put up a strong fight and worked hard for their points. Despite the scores it was a win for all, as new friendships and school relationships were created.
Our Year 7 and 8 teams have been a part of a Netball development programme run by coaches Mrs Courtney Rowson and Mrs Jill Wahlstrom, supported by strength coach, Mr Gareth O’Donnell and mental performance coach, Mr Dave Neithe. Since the start of the programme, there has been significant improvement in fitness, core strength and the mental toughness.
Our girls played exceptionally well during the exchange, displaying excellent sportsmanship and skill which bodes well for the upcoming AIMS games next month Well done girls for representing Saint Kentigern well and congratulations on your wins.
