National Selection for College Cyclists

With the cycling season just over the horizon, we are delighted to hear that four of our top cyclists at the College have gained national selection. Not only are all four riders part of the New Zealand Road Development and Team Squads but two of the riders are also part of the National U19 Track Cycling Teams named to compete offshore later in the year.
James Fouche, who has notched up some very impressive results over the last few years including numerous record-breaking rides and history-making titles at National School events, has been selected for the NZ U19 Road Cycling Development Academy and the NZ U19 Team this year. He is also riding for the L&M Group team.
Connor Brown, a member of the Nature Valley Team, has had impressive results across a range of events, including winning the iconic K1 race. He has been selected for the U19 NZ Road Cycling Development Academy. Connor has been equally impressive on the track and has been included in the NZ U19 Track Cycling Team to compete in Adelaide for the Anzac Cup.
Madeleine Park has also caught the attention of the New Zealand selectors with her achievements, including winning the U19 Individual Pursuit at Elite Nationals, just .100 of a second outside the National record. She will join Connor in the U19 NZ Track Cycling Team in Adelaide and has also been selected in the NZ U19 Team to compete at the World Junior Track Champs in Kazakhstan later this year. This is all the more significant considering it is her first year in this age group.
Liam Cappel has had success at various Junior Tours along with an age group win at K1 and a bronze medal at the National Criterium Championships. He has been selected for the U17 Boys National Road Cycling Team; a team of six who Cycling NZ is working with this year with a view to racing in Canberra in May.
All four riders are thoroughly deserving of their selections and we look forward to following their progress through the year.
