A busload of very excited senior girls departed last week for their annual camp at the idyllic spot of McLarens Falls Park just outside of Tauranga. In a change from last year’s camps, this year the Year 7 and 8 girls joined together to share their experiences in the parkland setting alongside Lake McLaren.
In a test of their tent assembly skills, the girls first challenge was putting up their sleeping quarters for the next four nights! In a show of determination, and some with a little help from the teachers, the girls all managed to successfully negate the jumble of guy ropes, flys and poles and were pleased when their tents stayed up all night!
The girls enjoyed getting outdoors and the physical challenges of kayaking, craft making, sailing in the Tauranga Harbour and swimming. Many a new friendship was developed and existing bonds were strengthened as the girls enjoyed their time away from home and new found independence.
