Excelling at Speech and Drama

December 14, 2015 at 12:15 PM

The drama department was proud to once again host two sessions of Trinity College of London Speech and Drama Exams recently. The College entered 90 students who sat Speech and Drama Examinations Grades 1 to 8 as well as a small number completing Communications Examinations up to Grade 4.

Ms Emma Bishop, Head of Drama, is extremely proud of the overall results which reflected the hard work and dedication given by both the students and our three itinerant tutors Mr Ashton Brown, Miss Kate Hurst and Mrs Catherine Watkins. Every student passed their examinations with high praise coming from the two external examiners about their communication skills and confidence.

The College received an overall result of 23 Merit grades (75-84points) and 62 Distinction grades (85-100 points). Special mention goes to the following students who attained near perfect grades:

Emma Hannan (Year 8) 98/100 Distinction for Grade 1 Speech and Drama

Stephanie Ramlose (Year 10) 96/100 Distinction for Grade 5 Speech and Drama

The growth in this area over the past few years has also seen an increase in staff with a fourth teacher employed for 2016 and we welcome Miss Rachael Longshaw-Park to the team. Miss Longshaw-Park has worked this year alongside Mr Brown as part of the Middle School Drama Club.

Enrolments are now open for lessons in 2016 and all information including staff resumes and the enrolment form can be found at https://www.saintkentigern.com/college/arts/itinerant-drama-teachers/.
