Double win for Boys’ School at Inter Zone Cross Country

Following on from their wins in the Eastern Zone Cross Country competition, the Year 7 and 8 Boys’ School teams went forward to the Auckland Champion of Champions race held at the Pukekohe A&P grounds yesterday…one of those days that produced four seasons in one day with strong winds, occasional heavy rain and just a touch of sunshine! The ground was extremely wet and very heavy under foot, a far cry from the firm conditions of their earlier racing on the College and Eastern Zone tracks.
The best runners from all Auckland zones were there with two things on their mind - to do the best that they could individually and hope that the combined scores from their school would win the overall champion title in the team section.
The boys were once again under team orders and they paid off with both the Year 7 and Year 8 Boys taking 1st place in the teams section. The Year 8 boys beat 2nd placed St Peter’s College and 3rd placed Pukekohe Intermediate whilst the Year 7 boys steamed ahead with a huge point gap to beat Northcross Intermediate and St Peter’s.
A fantastic result for the Boys’ School, both Year 7 and 8 are Auckland Cross Country Champion of Champions.
Year 7 - James Ford, Joshua Gordon-Glassford, Baxter Hilson, Thomas Kippenberger, Jamie Mora, Adam Morrison, Oliver Rowntree, Thomas Stokes
Year 8 - George Beca, Edward Chaytor, Nicholas Davies, Luke Hair, Sebastian Hardie, Jack Mitchell, Archie Nightingale, Cole Osborne
