College Welcomes Fellow Presbyterian Schools

This week, the College welcomed fellow Presbyterian schools, St Andrew’s College from Christchurch and Lindisfarne College from Hastings, for the annual Quadrangular Rugby Tournament.
Now in its 26th year, this annual encounter is usually a four-way competition that also includes Scots College from Wellington. Scots’ fortunes in their local 1A competition over the weekend now sees them playing in the Top 4 National competition this week, making them unavailable for ‘Quad.’ We wish them luck in their next round of competition!
Meanwhile, to prevent the tournament becoming ‘triangular’ rather than ‘quadrangular, the Saint Kentigern College 2nd XV has stepped into the breach at short notice and are looking forward to testing their mettle against both our own 1st XV and a visiting side.
The visitors are all billeted with Saint Kentigern families and we thank them for opening their homes and welcoming both players and staff this week.
The teams met in the Chapel this morning for a topical service with Reverend Smith before readying themselves for play.
The first game this morning was between St Andrew’s and Lindisfarne with a win for St Andrew’s 14-3. The two Saint Kentigern teams played each other. The teams will next play on Wednesday.
Finals will be played on Wednesday 3 September:
10.20: 3rd v 4th Playoff - Lindisfarne v Saint Kentigern 2nd XV
12.15: Pipe Band Display
12.30: Final - St Andrew’s v Saint Kentigern 1st XV
Come along and support them!
