College Tennis Academy coach, Gilles De Guoy is taking a tennis tournament trip to his native France with several of our Saint Kentigern players over the July school holidays.
Leading the team will be Year 13 tennis captain Trent Smith. Trent will be joined by tennis students Charlotte Booth, Julia Woolf, Amy Shew, Tame Payne, Connor Williamson, Trenton Leleni, Reid Burrows, Clayton Barry, Jake Ellis and Sam Bird.
On arriving in Paris, the group will travel to Gilles' hometown 50 minutes from Paris and be based at the Roye Tennis Club. A mayoral reception will be held for the team before they spend two days practising on the clay courts, which will be a new experience for most of the students.
The students will also be spending a day and night in Paris and a guided tour of ‘Roland Garros’, home of the French Open, as well as time visiting the famous land marks of Paris.
Following Paris, the group will travel to the coastal region of La Baule, a four hour drive from Paris for eight tournaments on the clay courts of France.
The French trip will be a fantastic experience for our players, playing on different courts in a foreign country and experiencing a different culture and language. We wish them all the best and great results.
