College Girls' 1st XI Football going strong!

June 02, 2015 at 2:45 PM

The Girls 1st X1 Football team has made a great start to the 2015  season - after playing the first six games of the Auckland Premier League, they are still unbeaten to date, even after playing the top seeds, Mount Albert Grammar (MAGS) last week.

Both MAGS and Saint Kentigern have started the year with a roar so last Wednesday’s game was set to be a challenge – and what a cracking game it turned out to be with no-one giving an inch. The Saint Kentigern girls dominated the start of the first half of the game with MAGS fighting back as the game progressed but half time arrived with no goals on the scoreboard.

The second half was more even with MAGS setting up three good chances for a goal mid-way through but not getting the ball past the keeper. Likewise, our girls created two really good chances for goals with five minutes to go but one was saved by the keeper and the last effort went over the bar so full time arrived goal-less, with a 0-0 draw recorded.

With their current form, it is a likely prospect that the two teams will meet in July for the final.

The team’s next game is at home this Wednesday against Green Bay. Come along and watch their skill!
