How many pairs of children’s pyjamas does $800.00 buy? Approximately 100!

The mountain of winter pyjamas was bought from proceeds of the Year 10 Enterprise Day held in June. In planning for the event, it was determined that part of the proceeds from the day would be directed towards giving service.

Thirty percent of all profit raised by the four classes who sold their wares on the day was put aside for the pyjamas to be purchased and donated to the Middlemore Foundation’s Kidz First Children’s Hospital as part of their ‘Jammies in June’ appeal.

David Kemeys, Public Relations Officer at the Middlemore Foundation was a guest at the Middle School assembly today and was presented with the pyjamas by the students. The ‘Jammies in June’ appeal aims to decrease the high rates of preventable illnesses by providing children in need with pyjamas during the cold winter months.

Commerce Teacher, Mr David Graham had the job of purchasing the 100+ pairs of pyjamas ranging in size from 2-12 years on behalf of the students. It was gratifying to know that these will now be put to meaningful use in the hospital and community.
