Great news for College cyclist, Connor Brown who has been selected for the U17 Boys team representing New Zealand in Australia’s Premier Junior Cycling Tour. The Year 11 student is part of a team of six New Zealand U17 boys who will travel to the Canberra competition in May.
Connor has been riding for the College since Year 7, achieving a number of successes over this time. He was placed 2nd overall in the U16 New Zealand National Secondary Schools Individual Cycling Championships, setting a new national Individual Time Trial record. He also came 2nd in the Road Race at the New Zealand National Schools Road Cycling Championships, and was the winner of the King of the Mountain Jersey in the U17 Junior Tour of Southland. Last year, Connor was invited to join the 10 strong squad of New Zealand U17 Development Road Cycling team.
The competition and travel abroad on the tour will help give riders international racing experience, as well as the fundamental skills of travelling and working as a team at international events.
Well done also to Old Collegian, Mikayla Harvey who has been selected for the U17 Girls team.
