Family and friends were welcomed to the Jack Paine Centre this week for an evening exhibition to showcase the work of students studying Year 13 NCEA Spatial Design, NCEA Fashion and Textiles, and IB (International Baccalaureate) Visual Arts.
For the NCEA students, their brief was to present one of their design outcomes as a site-specific exhibition that not only encapsulated and showcased the key qualities of their design, but also carefully utilised the atrium environs to its best effect.
For IB Art student, Danielle Lo, it was the summation of two years of visual arts development and personal growth reflected through a sophisticated and contemporary exhibition that includes a portfolio, painting and projected imagery.
This annual event is a recent addition to the College calendar and this year signalled the first occasion that the three subject areas have all been showcased together displaying a rich variety of visual material from installation, garment display, digital and manual drawing/painting, modelling, sculpture, animation, and film.
