As a result of the 66-12 win against Gose Industrial High School in the Quarter Finals, Saint Kentigern has secured a place in the Semi Finals against St Joseph’s Nudgee College (Australia), at the Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament in Japan.

Our boys started well enough in the Quarter Final, scoring in the first minute with a free running try from Blake Gibson. We had our number one side on minus Suliasi Vunivalu who had dislocated his thumb but, fortunately, will be able to play in the Semi Final on Saturday at 2.00pm.

We then had a flat patch and struggled a bit with combinations.  The forwards were playing very well, but the backs not quite gelling. However, by half time we were back on form and up 28-nil with Will Raea converting all four tries.

The second half was a dominant performance from the boys and we deserved all six of the second half tries, with Will Raea converting four of the six.

All and all the boys are in good shape for our Semi Final show down with Australia on Saturday. Most injuries are manageable so we should be at full strength. The Australian team also had a convincing win against their Japanese opponents. South Africa, on the other hand, has had the closest game of the tournament so far narrowly beating Osaka 20-15.

Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England are now all in the Semi Finals competing for a place in the Final on Sunday at 1.45pm.
