Cargill Wins Boys' School Swimming!

March 12, 2015 at 3:43 PM

A summer term of brilliant weather has assured plenty of pool time for the boys this year with the sunshine providing ideal conditions, day after day, for swimming lessons at the Boys’ School.

Once again, our swimming staff provided a superb programme, increasing the boys’ confidence and skill in the water from Years 1-8. Even our youngest students were ready to take on the full length of the pool at the Junior event; whether swimming freestyle unaided or kicking the length with a flotation device. As always, our senior boys were on hand to give moral support in the water for those who needed it.

The Middle and Senior School events produced some really competitive swimming as the boys vied to take line honours. All boys take part but for those who take their swimming seriously, some entered over 10 events making a tiring competition day for some! At senior level, we saw many, very close races as the boys pushed hard to win.

Each event concluded with the winners being invited to take their place on the podium and shake hands with Principal, Mr Cassie - there was only just enough room for the Juniors with three boys sharing the top spot!

The logistics for providing three days of competitive swimming for each of the syndicates is huge. Our thanks to Sport Director, Mr Duncan Grant and his team, and especially to the parents who assisted as timekeepers; your help is always truly appreciated!

Special mention must be made of this year’s record breakers:

Year 5 Brendan Meyer 25m Backstroke 19.28

Year 7 Jordan Klink 25m Backstroke 34.94

Year 8 Will Bason 25m Butterfly 15.50, 50m Backstroke 34.94

Well done boys!
