Boys’ School Welcome Scots College

September 06, 2017 at 10:03 AM

Over the last two days, the Boys’ School has hosted our good friends from Scots College in Wellington, an independent Presbyterian day and boarding school for boys from Year 1 through to 13. Boys’ School Principal, Mr Peter Cassie, always enjoys this particular exchange, as he worked at Scots prior to joining Saint Kentigern! The friendly rivalry always comes to the fore!

Our visitors arrived on Monday afternoon, to be billeted by our families. As always, our billeting families opened their homes to look after the Scots boys and we hope they take home some good memories of new friendships made.

A fine day was turned on for the sports matches yesterday when the top hockey, football and rugby teams went head to head, and  despite the rain over the last few weeks, firm surfaces allowed for fast and skilful play. Whether it was rugby on the top field, hockey on the turf below or football down on the Martyn Wilson Field, both sides put up a strong, feisty performance. On this occasion, Saint Kentigern had the edge, winning both the hockey and football, 8-2, and the rugby 64-40.

Although sporting wins were achieved, the day was equally about the experience of an exchange and strengthening our relationship with our friends from Wellington. The boys all enjoyed a shared lunch before saying goodbye. We look forward to seeing them again, maybe next time at Scots!
