Boys’ School Year 8 student, Akash Mudaliar regularly volunteers at the Elizabeth Knox Rest Home and Hospital in Epsom. He suggested to his flute teacher, Mrs Inglis that it would be nice idea if the Flute Choir could perform to the residents. Mrs Inglis readily agreed and today five boys from the Saint Kentigern Boys' School Flute Choir performed a 20 minute programme of solos and group items to a large audience of appreciative residents and staff.
Following the performance, the boys talked with the residents. For some of the boys it was a new experience to interact with older people no longer able to care for themselves. They rose to the occasion respectfully and politely. One resident is 104 years of age! Another said she would like to play the flute. The performance was enjoyed by all and the staff encouraged the Flute Choir to return again soon.
