Boys’ and Girls’ School Junior Cross Country

It was an excellent turn out at the annual Junior and Preschool cross country, with fierce determination dominating the course at the Boys’ School. After recent torrential downpours, the usual track around the lawn in front of Roselle House was underwater causing a much-needed change to the course. After zigzagging the field, the students then headed out around the school and back onto the top field to finish.

The Year 0-3 students took it in turns to line up; age group by age group they took their mark to await the start. At the sound of the clapper, there were a few trips and tumbles resulting in some muddy knees but it didn’t deter the students from giving it their best effort, getting straight back up and continuing. Fantastic sportsmanship was seen throughout morning, with lots of support for the runners from the side line, as well as senior students running with the juniors encouraging them to keep going.

After the Junior School races, our preschoolers stepped up to the start line with the three year old girls going first, followed by the boys and then the four year olds. With such little legs, every student powered through the course and the determination from all was incredible to see.

Well done to all the competitors and congratulations to those who succeeded in achieving their own personal goals and podium finishes.
