2021 Academic Colours and Honours

March 26, 2021 at 3:20 PM

In recognition of our senior students who strive to achieve at the highest academic levels, Saint Kentigern College awards Academic Colours and Honours.  At a special assembly held in their honour today, students who had achieved at the highest level in last year’s external examinations, were recognised for their outstanding achievements.

The standard set to gain Academic Awards is high and intended to motivate our top academic students to achieve at the highest levels of excellence. The students who are awarded Colours receive a special breast pocket to wear with pride on their blazer and were proud to receive these at today’s assembly with their parents as special guests.

Deputy Principal, Mrs Angee Robertson addressed the students and their parents saying, ‘excellence does not mean perfect, but it does mean ‘I’ have tried ‘my’ best and ‘I’ am committed to helping others to do their best.’ She acknowledged the students who were receiving awards and commend them for their intrinsic drive into being the best learner that they can be. Mrs Robertson finished by thanking the parents, staff and all students for supporting one another to achieve their best and said, ‘excellence does require a supportive commitment and you have all proved to be the best cheer leaders.’

The top achieving students in last year’s NCEA Level 1 (Year 12 this year), NCEA Level 2 (Year 13 this year), the IB Diploma and those students who gained NZQA Scholarships as a Year 10, 11 or 12 student last year, were all called forward to receive their certificates, before joining their parents for a shared morning tea.
